  • Maple Plain is introducing a new grassroots program intended to provide community members with the opportunity to directly improve recreational and public spaces in the town. Have a desire to volunteer or a great idea on how we can improve our outdoor spaces? Visit the Maple Plain Volunteering webpage to learn more!
  • The Maple Plain Historical Museum Committee is hosting an Ice Cream Social on Saturday, August 6th from 2 PM - 4 PM. They'll be providing ice cream, pie, and great company! Come to the Maple Plain Historical Museum on Saturday to enjoy the festivities!
  • The City of Maple Plain wants to send a big "Congratulations" to West Hennepin Public Safety Officer Jon Howes! Officer Howes will be promoted to Sergeant on August 1st, 2022. He has dedicated 17 years to serving the community of Maple Plain through WHPS. Maple Plain congratulates Jon on his promotion and would like to thank him for his service!
  • The next Cookies with Council is Monday, August 15th from 4-6pm. Come join in the conversation (and the cookies!) with Councilmembers Caitlin Cahill and Connie Francis.
  • Night to Unite is almost here! Neighborhoods are encouraged to gather for block parties, cookouts, and other community-building events! Those that registered their events with WHPS can expect a visit from our public safety staff. Night to Unite will be on August 2nd, 2022.   • Nominations may now be submitted for the 2022 Good Neighbor Award! Nomination forms can be found here and will be accepted until Friday, October 14.
  • Congratulations are also in order for Maple Plain Mayor Julie Maas-Kusske and Councilmember John Fay. Julie and John are both members of the Orono Rotary Club, which is an organization dedicated to community service and betterment across the world. Julie was recently named to the position of Orono Rotary President and John was named Orono Rotary Treasurer. Thank you, Julie and John, for continuously making our community proud!
  • Absentee Voting officially began at Maple Plain City Hall. You will be able to vote absentee through August 8, 2022 before the State Primary Election on August 9, 2022. Additional information can be found on the absentee voting webpage.
  • Crosswalks across Maple Plain recently received a new coat of paint thanks to Public Works staff member Dylan Hoflock! Photos showing the process of painting the crosswalks can be viewed on our Facebook page.
  • Maple Plain will be hosting the 2022 First Responder Softball Game between West Hennepin Public Safety and the Maple Plain Fire Department on September 8th from 6 PM - 8 PM at Veterans Memorial Park. All members of the community are welcome to come support and cheer for their local first responders!
  • Maple Plain is helping plan Art in the Park with Orono Community Education to be held on September 22 from 5 PM - 7 PM. Taking place at Veterans Memorial Park, the event will be providing live music, art tutorials and interactive projects hosted by some of Maple Plain's local art stores, and food from McGarry's Pub and Forkless. We invite all in the community to attend!
  • The Summer heat is upon us! If you have any newly laid sod or fresh seeding from street projects, please remember to water.
  • The Maple Plain Planning Commission discussed the sign variance at 1675 Spring Avenue, recommending it for approval at the next City Council Business Meeting.
  • There is currently a vacancy on Maple Plain's Planning Commission. Those interested in applying to become a Planning Commissioner can do so by following the link here.
  • The City Council discussed a sign variance at 1675 Spring Avenue, the MNDot Master Partnership Contract, and Quarterly Financial Reports at the most recent Business Meeting. More information can be obtained in the Council packet from the July 25, 2022 meeting.
