  • Movies in the Park is taking place on Friday, September 16th (tonight) from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM at Veterans Memorial Park. The movie being shown is The Bad Guys. Bring your blankets, chairs, and anything else you'll need for this fun outdoor movie!
  • In the event of rain, this event will be held in the Orono Discovery Center gymnasium located at 5050 Independence Street, Maple Plain.
  • Maple Plain is helping plan Art in the Park with Orono Community Education to be held on September 22 from 5 PM - 7 PM. Taking place at Veterans Memorial Park, the event will be providing live music, art tutorials and interactive projects hosted by Orono Community Education with additional collaboration from local Maple Plain artists, and food from McGarry's Pub and Forkless. We invite all in the community to attend!
  • The Maple Plain Fire Department is hosting their annual Fire Department Open House on Saturday, October 8th from 11 AM - 4 PM. Come meet our local firefighters, enjoy fun games, take a ride on the Maple Plain firetruck, and enjoy tasty food! This event is held at the Maple Plain Fire Department (1645 Pioneer Ave).
  • The next Cookies with Council will be on Monday, November 21 from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM in the City Council chambers located in the Orono Discovery Center. Come chat with council member Mike DeLuca about all things Maple Plain. Cookies and refreshments will be served.
  • National Thank a Police Officer Day is this Saturday, September 17th. The City of Maple Plain partnered with Schumann Elementary School to have their students create Thank You cards for the West Hennepin Public Safety police officers that serve our community everyday. We would like to thank all current and former police officers for the work that they have done to ensure that our community remains a safe and enjoyable place to live. Thank you!   • National Thank a Police Officer Day is Saturday, September 17th. The City of Maple Plain was proud to partner with students Schumann Elementary School to create Thank You cards for the local West Hennepin Police Department that serves our community daily. We would like to thank every former and present police officer for their continuous contributions to making our community a safer, better environment!
  • The 2022 First Responder Softball Game was held at Veterans Memorial Park on September 8th. After six very close back-and-forth innings, West Hennepin Public Safety exploded on offense to take the victory 21-11 over the Maple Plain Fire Department. We would like to thank everyone that attended and supported our public safety officers. We extend an even bigger thank you to our public safety officers for all the work that they do to serve our community.
  • Nominations may now be submitted for the 2022 Good Neighbor Award! Nomination forms can be found here and will be accepted until Friday, October 14.

  • Maple Plain is introducing a new grassroots program intended to provide community members with the opportunity to directly improve recreational and public spaces in the town.   • The City of Maple Plain was recently awarded the Hennepin County Active Living Grant. This grant will provide the City of Maple Plain with $5,000 that will be used to purchase new benches to be installed along the walking trails of Baker Park Road, Gateway Boulevard, Howard Avenue, and Oak Street. These benches will provide resting stops for those using these paths and should especially benefit our local senior population.
  • The City of Maple Plain is also the recipient of the Minnesota DNR Preparing for Emerald Ash Borer Grant. This grant will provide $25,000 that the City of Maple Plain is to use for the betterment of our public lands tree systems. More information about the EAB grant can be found on our website here.
  • Bituminous Roadways has continued working on the watermain repair project along Highway 12 between Spring and Maple this week. The work is being completed through a "pipe bursting" method and is expected to be completed by the end of September. Highway 12 will remain open throughout the duration of the project with lane shifting occurring around the week. More information can be found by following the link here.
  • The City Council discussed snow plow contracting, the proposed 2023 PD budget, and Turf Program at the most recent City Council Workshop. More information can be obtained in the Council packet from the September 12, 2022 workshop.
  • The Economic Development Authority discussed a proposed downtown development plan at the most recent EDA meeting. More information can be obtained in the EDA packet from the September 12, 2022 meeting.
