The Administration Department oversees the daily operations and administration of the City and works closely with the City Council to implement policies and directives.
The assessor is responsible for establishing the estimated market value and determining the property classification of each parcel of property located within the City of Maple Plain on an annual basis for the purpose of property tax allocation.
The Building Inspection Department is responsible for the application and enforcement of the building codes and related ordinances regulating construction, alterations and the use of buildings within the city.
The City of Maple Plain hires a consultant to perform its engineering duties, which works closely with the Public Works Department in determining needs for maintaining and reconstruction of street and utility infrastructure.
Engineering is primarily responsible for construction and improvement projects related to the City's infrastructure - water main, sanitary and storm sewer systems, and streets.
The Finance Department coordinates the preparation of the annual financial report and the annual budget and administers the fiscal operations of the City including revenue collection, disbursements, payroll, general accounting, and maintains the City’s investment portfolio and insurance coverage.
The Maple Plain Fire Department provides fire suppression, rescue and medical response, fire inspections, and fire prevention education.
The Planning Department administers and enforces the city's zoning code, comprehensive plan, and design standards. The department provides technical assistance to both the Planning Commission and City Council. Planning is also responsible for the review of development applications to ensure compliance with Maple Plain's ordinances and policies.
