The City of Maple Plain Public Works Department operates a compost site located at the intersection of Poplar Avenue and Willow Street (see map below). The site is open seasonally during the Spring through Fall. Season opening and closing dates are weather dependent.
The compost site is open for use by City of Maple Plain residents only - no commercial or business use.
Hours of Operation: Spring - Fall, everyday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm
Please note if you bring your grass clippings and leaves in non-composting bags such as plastic bags, they need to be removed and disposed of properly. Additionally, please place compost items in designated areas; brush on brush pile, compost on compost pile.
All other items are prohibitted including, but not limited to tires, appliances, stumps, limbs over 3" in diamter, garbage, or any kind of landscaping materials such as rock, dirt, or gravel.
If you have these types of items to dispose of we suggest consulting the Hennepin County Green Disposal Guide or contacting Randy's Sanitation, which has a public drop site in Delano. Additionally, the City hosts an annual clean up event (typically the first Saturday in May) in which many of these items are accepted.
The City of Maple Plain has to needlessly spend money to dispose of trash and debris left at the compost stie. As a community, we need to keep an eye on the compost site. If you notice suspicious activity or illegal dumping, please call 911 or contact City Hall and report what you have witnessed. By doing so, we can save our community money and keep the services we've all come to enjoy available.
Through Randy's Environmental Services, seasonal curbside yard waste collection is available for single-family residential properties. For more information click HERE .
