2021 Street & Utility Improvements

As part of the City’s continuing public improvement efforts in 2021, the City has authorized its consulting engineer, Bolton & Menk, to prepare a feasibility study for the 2021 Street Reconstruction Project, which consists of Drake Street, Perkins Lane, Bradford Street, and Gladview Lane.  The proposed scope of the project includes replacement of the water and sanitary sewer mains and services; curb and gutter; storm sewer; and new pavement.

Consistent with past projects, a portion of the costs associated with this work is proposed to be assessed to the benefiting properties.  Once the feasibility study is complete, the City will hold a public Improvement Hearing, at which time residents will have the opportunity to learn more about the project and provide feedback to the City Council.

The preliminary schedule for the project is as follows:

  • Complete Feasibility Study – January 2021
  • Public Hearing – February 22, 2021
  • Prepare Plans and Specifications – January to April 2021
  • Bid Opening - April 13, 2021
  • City Council Special Meeting to Review and Award Bid - April 14, 2021
  • Award Construction Contract – May 2021
  • Construction – June to September 2021

Deferred Assessment Option - Qualified property owners may defer/postpone payment of special assessments based on age, income, disability, or military service. Payment will be due and payable in full at some future date. For each year the assessment is deferred, interest amounts are calculated and added to the total amount due.  See the Deferred Assessment Application for options and explanations.
